The instant formatting system currently handles patterns of the form `ss.S{n}` (e.g., `ss.S`, `ss.SSS`, `ss.SSSSSSSSS`) by falling back to the generic `DateTimeFormatter`-based path. This introduces unnecessary allocations and defeats the purpose of the garbage-free unified formatter/caching design.
