After moving HEAD away from a commit (e.g., `git checkout HEAD^`), running `git gc --prune=now` removes the commit even though it has not been hidden. Once collected, the commit and its associated metadata are lost, and `git smartlog` shows `<garbage collected>` instead of the commit summary.
