The SQL parser currently does not recognize a `START_MODE` clause in `CREATE MATERIALIZED TABLE` and `CREATE OR ALTER MATERIALIZED TABLE` statements. Attempting to use this clause results in a syntax error, even when the syntax is otherwise correct.
