When using locally deployed LLMs (such as Qwen3 235B quantized models), tool responses and agent outputs sometimes contain valid JSON followed by extra tokens or trailing garbage text. This causes a `parsed json with extra tokens` error that prevents research activity results from displaying correctly in the UI.
