The task
The current Kafka client configuration only allows setting `KAFKA_SASL_MECHANISM`, `KAFKA_SASL_USERNAME`, and `KAFKA_SASL_PASSWORD`. It does **not** specify the security protocol (e.g., `SASL_SSL` or `SASL_PLAINTEXT`) and has no mechanism to load TLS certificates. Consequently, the Kafka handshake cannot complete.
