When proxying WebSocket connections through a TCP load balancer (like AWS ELB in TCP mode), there is a question of how connection persistence works. Unlike HTTP requests which are stateless, WebSocket connections begin with an HTTP Upgrade handshake and then transition to a persistent bidirectional TCP connection.
